Growing up with the peaks of the Rocky Mountains over their shoulders, Eliot Reese often felt like they were destined to be a storyteller. As a child, their imagination was filled with wonder about the way of the earth, the cycle of the seasons, and the vastness of the stars. From the beginning, Eliot had a world beyond right in their backyard.
Eliot’s passion, no — obsession — with stories was planted early by their grandmother, who would read them The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien as a bedtime story. The fantastical world of Middle Earth lit a fire in the heart of this would-be storycrafter and soon, Eliot Reese’s first stories came to life. From collaborative online writing to devising theatre, Eliot made it their mission to learn as much as they could about the stories and story structures that made their heart flutter. They made costumes for their characters and wore them to conventions and renaissance faires, exploring their own narratives, the stories that made them.

story informed narratives
That exploration led them to Ellensburg, WA where they received a bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Central Washington University. There, costume design led to a passion for dramaturgy (the study of dramatic composition) and historiography (the history of historical writing).
Life interluded with a marriage, a few moves, and plenty of cats. Marrying their person, another writer, not only opened Eliot’s world to more possibility, but also made it clear that there was more study to do. Eliot knew their next step was to perfect the shape of story that started it all: the novel.
Eliot is currently completing their Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with Southern New Hampshire University and is in the middle of drafting their debut novel The Blakk Roads: City of Sand under the pseudonym P. Ambrose. This story follows two siblings who begin the end of the world and is the first in Eliot’s epic fantasy series, Momentary Masters.
